ECR 2020 Highlights ESR Star
Grand Opening & Grand Finale

Again the ECR will be officially opened with a magnificent feast for your eyes and ears. On Wednesday, March 11, 17:45-19:15, in the Forum (Room A), the Grand Opening directed by stage director Sarantos Georgios Zervoulakos will operate under the motto 'Adagio'. Find out more here.

To bring a stunning conclusion to ECR 2020, the Grand Finale will feature a colourful fusion of talks, music and three extraordinary young speakers sharing their thought-provoking personal stories. The Grand Finale will take place at the congress on Sunday, March 15, 12:30-14:00, in the Forum (Room A). Find out more here.     

ECR Radio

We are pleased to announce that at ECR 2020, for the first time, we will have our very own ECR Radio, which will be broadcast live from the entrance hall Wednesday to Saturday, every morning from 07:30 to 10:30.

ECR 2020 Live - Participate from home

For those who cannot travel to Vienna, the best congress in medical imaging will come to you! With the Participate from home ticket, you can watch more than 4,000 lectures and collect CME credits (on-demand services included until March 31, 2020).

For the first time and exclusively available for Participants from home, the technical exhibition will be broadcast in moderated sessions (no CMEs).

Get your research funded - visit the EIBIR Lounge

In the entrance hall, the lounge of the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) will present the latest results, demonstrators and prototypes of projects supported by EIBIR.

Visitors can also learn about funding opportunities for imaging research and how EIBIR’s project support services can increase funding success!

ESR proud to host high-level session with IAEA

EuroSafe Imaging and IAEA will hold a joint session on capacity building and quality/safety awareness in Africa discussing how joining forces can help improve imaging services in less privileged areas.
IAEA Directors M. Abdel Wahab (Division of Human Health), S. Abdulrazak (Division for Africa), and P. Johnston (Division of Radiation, Transport and Waste Safety) as well as ESR President B. Brkljačić are involved.

ESTI training programme for Lung Cancer Screening

To help radiologists introduce Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) and reduce lung cancer mortality, the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI) has developed a dedicated LCS training programme. It aims to provide training for the provision of a high-quality service, including reducing false positives and producing as low as possible radiation doses.

This programme is supported by the European Society of Radiology (ESR).

ESR continues as member of EC eHealth Stakeholder Group

The ESR has been nominated once again to be a member of the European Commission eHealth Stakeholder Group for 2019-2022, an important achievement to keep radiology in the driving seat of technology adoption and related regulatory frameworks. It will provide advice and expertise on policy developments regarding the digital transformation of healthcare.

Driving clinical audit forward - QuADRANT project kicks off

Although being a legal requirement, clinical audit has still not found its way into imaging departments in many countries. The ESR is proud to have been awarded the European Commission Tender project QuADRANT, in which it will, together with EANM and ESTRO, promote improvement in quality and safety of radiology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine through the implementation of clinical audit. A kick-off meeting was held on February 5, 2020 with the European Commission.

Europe’s Cancer Beating Plan - getting the voice of radiology heard

The European Commission launched a consultation on Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, an ambitious plan to be released in 2020 to enhance cancer care in Europe. The ESR will contribute by engaging with European institutions and providing targeted feedback on imaging priorities, thus raising the voice for the importance of imaging in cancer care.
