European Society of Radiology looks back on successful International Day of Radiology 2018

The International Day of Radiology (IDOR) was celebrated for the seventh time on November 8, this year focusing on cardiac imaging, and was joined by individual supporters and more than 170 radiology-related professional societies all around the world.

The new IDOR book ‘The HEART revealed. Radiology in the diagnosis and management of cardiac conditions’ is available on the website as downloadable pdf. Under the editorial leadership of Professor Jens Bremerich, Switzerland, and Dr. Rodrigo Salgado, Belgium, 41 authors from all over the world contributed to the book. In addition, 43 interviews with cardiac imaging experts from different countries, conducted by the ESR, have been published on the IDoR webpage.

Colorectal cancer liver metastases

This article seeks to compare the diagnostic performance of CE-CT, MRI and FDG-PET/CT regarding detection of colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). (Eur Radiol)

Findings after lung transplantation

The purpose of this review is to identify and discuss the five main complications after lung transplantation. The authors describe specific CT signs of these five complications, as well as their time of occurrence to improve diagnosis, follow-up and medical management. (Insights Imaging)

Artificial intelligence in medical imaging

The purpose of this article is to provide insight into the application of artificial intelligence in medical imaging. The authors discuss this through basic definitions of terms and the analysis of the integration of AI into radiology. (Eur Radiol Exp)

Knowledge of screening mammography

This review is aimed at understanding women’s knowledge of screening mammography. The authors cover 35 studies of varying methodologies published over 25 years and includes data from several member countries of the International Cancer Screening Network-Breast Cancer Division. (Breast)

One-view breast tomosynthesis vs. two-view mammography

The goal of this study was to compare the one-view digital breast tomosynthesis and the standard two-view digital mammography, as well as to investigate the accuracy of each screening. The study consisted of a population-based screening of women at Skåne University Hospital, Malmö, Sweden. (Lancet Oncol)

Identification of Urinary Calculi

The aim of this study is to compare the accuracy of plain abdominal radiography with digital tomosynthesis to noncontrast computed tomography and determine which of these methods is superior in the identification of intrarenal calculi and detection of renal stones. (Urology)
