Research Presentations (oral), EPOS for Radiologists (poster), EPOS for Radiographers (poster), Student Presentations (oral) or EuroSafe Imaging (poster).

Submission is possible until October 10, 2019. More information at myESR.org/abstracts and submit now!

ECR 2020 Registration

Registration for ECR 2020 is now open! To benefit from the highly reduced opening fee, register before October 17, 2019.

More information at myESR.org/registration.

Be a tree at ECR 2020

Leading the way in responsible and sustainable congress organisation, the ESR is bringing a new green initiative to ECR 2020. For every attendee who takes part in next year's meeting, whether they attend onsite or online, the ESR will plant a tree. This will mean the planting of approximately 30,000 trees in an effort to counteract the effects of the global environmental crisis.

Find out more about this special project here.

Invest in the Youth

Supporting the youth is one of the ESR’s top priorities and with its ‘Invest in the Youth’ programme the society will fund 1,400 young professionals at ECR 2020. Successful applicants will be granted free congress registration and a hotel accommodation voucher. Candidates must submit an abstract for ECR 2020 and be an active ESR member for 2019.

More information at myesr.org/supportprogrammes.

Shape your Skills

‘Shape your Skills’ is an ESR programme dedicated to fully trained radiographers (radiological technologists) who submit an abstract to ECR and are active ESR members for 2019.  Successful applicants will be granted free congress registration and a hotel accommodation voucher. Applicants must submit an abstract for ECR 2020 and be an active ESR member for 2019.

CHILI returns on October 25 - online, free, 6 CME

CHILI (Conference on Hybrid Imaging Live) returns with its unique, online-only conference format. On October 25, 2019, a hot mix of lectures, round table discussions and interesting clips and videos on hybrid imaging will be live-streamed from Vienna.

The conference is free of charge and accredited with 6 CME credits (ECMEC®s). Find more information here

Lung Cancer Screening Certification Programme

To help radiologists introduce Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) and reduce lung cancer mortality, the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (ESTI) has developed a dedicated LCS training programme. It aims at providing training for high-quality service, including reducing false positives and producing as low as possible radiation dose. Register now for the LCS workshop and save the date for the case-based lecture organised on the occasion of ECR 2020.

This LCS training programme is supported by the ESR.

Editorial Fellowships in 2020 - Application open

Albert L. Baert Editorial Fellowship
The European Radiology Private Foundation is pleased to announce the Albert L. Baert Editorial Fellowship 2020. This editorial fellowship aims to provide training in editorial skills.

European Radiology Review Fellowships
The ESR is happy to announce the second edition of the European Radiology Review Fellowships. Up to ten candidates will be trained as reviewers for a period of approximately six months.

Find out more about the eligibility criteria and the application at myesr.org/publications/fellowships.

News from European Radiology Experimental

European Radiology Experimental, the youngest member of the ESR Journals Family, is happy to announce its recent indexation in Scopus! All journal content will soon be available in the database. Be part of the journal's success story and submit your article here! Read all articles here (open access).

EDiR - The Essential Guide

EDiR – The Essential Guide has now been published and is available to buy on Springer.com. The guide focusses on practical, rather than theoretical, knowledge and is intended as a reference tool for potential EDiR candidates who would like to gain a better understanding of the examination. T2 mapping of the meniscus is a biomarker for early osteoarthritis

This prospective study correlates MRI T2 mapping of the meniscus with the degree of histological meniscal degeneration in patients with osteoarthritis. Meniscal T2 mapping has the potential to serve as a non-invasive imaging biomarker for meniscal degeneration and early osteoarthritis. (Eur Radiol)

Validated imaging biomarkers as decision-making tools in clinical trials and routine practice

This comprehensive review presents the current evidence for the use of quantitative imaging biomarkers in clinical practice and sets out recommendations from the European Imaging Biomarkers Alliance (EIBALL) subcommittee of the ESR, for using imaging biomarkers objectively to guide patient management decisions. (Insights Imaging)

Breast cancer Ki-67 expression prediction

This prospective study shows that quantitative radiomic imaging features of breast cancer extracted from digital breast tomosynthesis are associated with breast cancer biology and Ki-67 expression, which guides personalised treatment. (Eur Radiol Exp)

The impact of AI in radiography

With all of the attention surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) in radiology, one area where the impact of AI has not been explored in detail is radiography. We interviewed Dr. Nick Woznitza, a radiographer from Homerton University Hospital and clinical academic at Canterbury Christ Church University, to learn more about how AI is affecting radiography. ai.myESR.org

Lung ultrasound methods for the diagnosis of acute heart failure

This multicenter prospective study investigates the clinical value of lung ultrasound strategies in identifying acute heart failure in the emergency department in patients with diagnostic uncertainty. (Chest)
