Greetings from the Chairman of the ESR Board of Directors
Dear ESR Member,
Welcome to the Summer edition of ESR@Work!
After a busy spring, ESR activities are certainly not slowing down. The ESR Board of Directors and Executive Council had fruitful and constructive meetings at the end of June in Santa Margherita Ligure (see here). I am happy and proud to say that many ideas for new projects and initiatives came up aiming at constant improvement of the services we provide to our institutional as well as individual members.
I wish you wonderful summer holidays with some time to relax and get ready for all the exciting activities in autumn!
Prof. Lorenzo Derchi
Chairperson of the ESR Board of Directors

ESR granted Special Liaison Organisation status with ICRP
The International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) has accepted the ESR as Special Liaison Organisation. The ESR is convinced that its new official status with ICRP will be of mutual benefit for both organisations and, ultimately, the patient. ESR EuroSafe Imaging Steering Committee Chair Prof. G. Frija will act as liaison with ICRP.
How to manage accidental and unintended exposure in radiology: an ESR white paper
This paper aims to help national scientific organisations to advise their national regulators and authorities on how to provide a simple and practicable implementation of the European Basic Safety Standards Directive 2013/59/EURATOM regarding the analysis and report of “significant dose events”. The ESR recommends reporting physical dose parameters from dedicated modalities.
